Affiliate Disclosure

Last updated: May 2026

This Affiliate Disclosure describes Pogodex’s affiliate relationships, how we disclose them, and the editorial wall that separates affiliate revenue from editorial recommendations. It is written to comply with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission’s Endorsement Guides (16 CFR Part 255), the Italian Codice del Consumo (D.Lgs. 206/2005), the EU Unfair Commercial Practices Directive (2005/29/EC), and broader good-faith disclosure norms.

1. The short version

Some links on Pogodex are affiliate links. When you click an affiliate link and complete a qualifying action (typically a purchase), the affiliated network may pay Pogodex a commission. The commission does not increase the price you pay. Affiliate revenue does not influence editorial recommendations.

2. What we accept affiliate relationships for

Pogodex’s affiliate relationships are limited and tangential to Pokémon GO — we are not paid by Niantic and we do not have a direct affiliate relationship with the game itself. Where affiliate links appear, they typically cover:

  • Gaming accessories useful for Pokémon GO play (third-party power banks for raid hours, phone grips, screen protectors).
  • Mobile-game adjacent peripherals (auto-catch wearables in jurisdictions where they are sold; we name the device and its limitations honestly).
  • General gaming hardware and merchandise where the relevance is clear.
  • Books, training materials, and other educational resources tangentially related to the game.

3. What we do not accept

To remove ambiguity:

  • We do not accept affiliate revenue from third-party services that violate Niantic’s Terms of Service. There are no affiliate links to “buy stardust” services, GPS-spoofing apps, account-trading platforms, multi-accounting services, or auto-bot tools. Where these services exist, they are illegitimate and Pogodex will not be paid to send readers to them.
  • We do not have direct affiliate relationships with Niantic, Nintendo, Game Freak, Creatures Inc., or The Pokémon Company. References to these companies on the Site are editorial, not commercial.
  • We do not run “honest review” arrangements where a brand provides a product in exchange for friendly coverage. Where a sample is provided for review, the relationship is disclosed at the top of the article and the editorial verdict is made on the product’s merits.
  • We do not run undisclosed sponsored content. Where any commercial relationship affects content, it is identified.

4. How we disclose

Where affiliate links appear, the disclosure is layered:

  • Inline marker. Each affiliate link is marked with “(affiliate link)” at first occurrence in the article so the reader sees the relationship at the moment of clicking.
  • Article-level block. Articles that contain affiliate links carry a disclosure block near the top of the article (usually below the byline) summarizing the affiliate relationship and its scope.
  • Technical marker. Affiliate links carry rel=”sponsored nofollow” attributes per Google’s webmaster guidance.
  • This page. The full framework is described here, linked from the footer of every page.

If you encounter an affiliate link on the Site that lacks proper disclosure, please email info [at] pogodex [punto] space. We treat undisclosed affiliate links as production errors and fix them quickly.

5. The editorial wall

Affiliate revenue is one source of funding for Pogodex; advertising (currently Google AdSense; planned Mediavine; alternative Adsterra) is the other. Both are intentionally separated from editorial decisions:

  • The decision to recommend or not recommend a product, service, or game-related decision is made by the editorial team based on testing and analysis.
  • Where an affiliate program exists for a product the team has decided not to recommend, we do not recommend it just because the affiliate is available.
  • Where an affiliate program does not exist for a product the team has decided to recommend, we recommend it anyway.
  • Where the editorial verdict is “not worth it” or “not recommended,” we say so even when an affiliate program exists.

The editorial framework is described in Editorial Standards.

6. Sample of disclosure language

A typical article-level disclosure block reads:

Disclosure: This article contains affiliate links to [merchant]. If you click an affiliate link and make a qualifying purchase, Pogodex may receive a commission at no additional cost to you. Editorial recommendations are not influenced by affiliate availability. See our Affiliate Disclosure for the full position.

7. Tax and legal disclosure

Affiliate revenue, where earned, is reported as taxable income in Italy under standard freelance / self-employment tax rules. We are not a registered tax-advisory firm and the tax treatment described is for transparency, not tax advice.
