Cookie Policy
Last updated: May 2026
This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar technologies are used on Pogodex, why they are used, and how you can manage your preferences. It is a companion document to our Privacy Policy. The Site complies with the EU GDPR, the ePrivacy Directive 2002/58/EC, the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the CPRA.
1. What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file stored by your browser when you visit a website. Cookies are used for many purposes: remembering preferences, keeping you logged in, measuring traffic, and serving advertising. Similar technologies include local storage, pixel tags, and SDK identifiers.
2. Cookie categories
Pogodex classifies cookies into three categories:
- Strictly necessary cookies — required for the Site to function (consent state, security tokens, session management). Set on first visit; subject to the legal-basis exemption for technically necessary processing.
- Analytics and performance cookies — help us understand how readers use the Site (anonymized aggregate traffic, popular articles, technical errors). Set only with consent.
- Advertising and affiliate cookies — used by advertising networks and affiliate networks to measure ad performance, frequency-cap ads, and (with consent) personalize advertising. Set only with consent.
3. Specific cookies in use
The list below reflects the cookies we are aware of as of the “Last updated” date. The advertising network in use determines which advertising cookies appear; we update this section as our networks change.
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Duration | Category |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| cookieConsent | pogodex.space | Stores your consent decisions | 12 months | Necessary |
| __cf_bm | Cloudflare | Bot management, security | 30 minutes – 1 year | Necessary |
| _ga, _gid | Google Analytics | Aggregate traffic measurement | 14 months | Analytics |
| __gads, __gpi | Google AdSense | Ad measurement, frequency capping, fraud prevention | 13 months | Advertising |
| IDE, NID, DSID | Google AdSense / DoubleClick | Ad personalization (where consented), measurement, anti-fraud | 13 months | Advertising |
| (Mediavine cookies) | Mediavine (planned) | If/when we move to Mediavine, this row will be populated with the specific cookies Mediavine sets, typically including ad measurement and frequency capping | To be confirmed | Advertising |
| (Adsterra cookies) | Adsterra (alternative) | If we use Adsterra as a fallback, this row covers Adsterra-set cookies for ad delivery and measurement | 30 days – 12 months | Advertising |
| Affiliate referral cookies | Affiliate networks (where applicable) | Tracks affiliate referrals when an affiliate link is clicked through to the partner | 7 – 90 days, varies by program | Advertising |
4. Advertising network changes
Pogodex currently uses Google AdSense as our advertising partner. As traffic grows, we plan to apply to Mediavine; if accepted, Mediavine will replace AdSense as the primary network and the cookie inventory will change accordingly. Where AdSense or Mediavine is not available or appropriate, we use Adsterra as a fallback alternative. Whenever we change advertising networks, this Cookie Policy is updated, the consent banner is refreshed, and material changes are flagged in the banner.
5. Affiliate-network cookies
When you click an affiliate link on Pogodex, the affiliate network may set a cookie or use a tracking parameter to attribute the referral. These cookies are set in the affiliate network’s domain, not ours, and are subject to the affiliate network’s own privacy policy. Common networks include Amazon Associates (for tangential gaming-accessory affiliations) and platform-specific affiliate programs. The full list relevant to a specific article is named in the article’s review or partnership disclosure.
6. Managing cookies
You have several ways to control cookies on this Site:
- Cookie consent banner — on first visit, you are presented with a banner allowing you to accept all, reject non-essential, or customize per category. Revisit at any time via the link in the site footer.
- Browser settings — all major browsers allow you to view, manage, and delete cookies. See Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge.
- Industry opt-out tools — Your Online Choices (Europe), DAA Opt-Out (United States), NAI Opt-Out (United States).
- Global Privacy Control — if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we honor it as an opt-out of “sale” or “sharing” of personal information under the CCPA.
7. Consequences of refusing cookies
Strictly necessary cookies cannot be disabled without breaking site functionality. Refusing analytics cookies prevents us from understanding aggregate site usage but does not affect your ability to use the Site. Refusing advertising and affiliate cookies will result in less relevant advertising rather than no advertising; the Site is supported by ads, and removing them entirely is not currently an option short of a browser-level ad blocker.
8. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
We do not currently respond to legacy Do Not Track signals as a primary opt-out mechanism (the standard never reached consensus on enforcement). We do honor the Global Privacy Control signal as described above.
9. Children
This Site is suitable for general audiences. We do not knowingly use cookies to track or profile users who are minors under the relevant age threshold. See Section 3 of our Privacy Policy.
10. Updates to this policy
This Cookie Policy is reviewed at least annually and revised as our cookie inventory or applicable law changes. Material changes are accompanied by a refreshed consent prompt.
